University of MN Students Want You to Join Them in a Global Movement!

September 28, 2016

Monday, October 10th, 2016 is World Mental Health Day, a global movement sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO) to raise awareness of mental health and excite efforts to improve it. The students of U of M are reaching out to you to become part of their social media campaign: #WMHD

They envision this movement as an avenue to share how different cultures and countries promote global mental health awareness, manage their stress, and other ways to prevent mental illness. At the University YMCA, they plan to share how our community contributes to the mission behind #WMHD. For example, the UY will be posting something similar to the sample post below on social media with the hashtag #WMHD.

How can you contribute to the cause? Brainstorm ways that your organization either works towards a healthy mind or takes time to de-stress. This may be pictures from events that you have held or been a part of, personal strategies that your group’s members use, or sharing articles with tools and tips for how to stay mentally healthy. Please share these posts on Facebook where we will repost to our following, but do feel free to also post on other social media platforms.

If you are interested in becoming a part of this movement or have any questions, do not hesitate to contact the students (see contact information below)! They are excited about this campaign and think you’d be a great addition to the impact #WMHD can have.
